Daydream Island - Day 5 - Sunday 9th March, 2025 - Last Day

 Today is our last day.  We got a late check out, as our ferry wasn’t leaving until 12:15pm, so we decided to make the most of the morning.

 


As usual, we went down and enjoyed the last day of our breakfast.  Straight from breakfast we went for our very last swim and chatted about the last few days.  As we were there early, we had the pool all too ourselves.  It was nice.

 


Next, it was time for a shower and to pack our bags and divvy up the cost of the room charges. We were very lucky that we had organised our late check out, as we could just take our time and not rush.

 It was now time to leave and say goodbye to the room, hand in our keys and say thank you to all the staff.  They were all wonderful.

 It wasn’t a ferry that came this time, it was a catamaran.  We were leaving in style. 

 


We got to Hamilton Island, and it was very crowded.  As we were the first plane to leave, we were taken to the front of the line for security and rushed onto the plane with everyone else that was flying to Sydney.  I like the way this happened, it is better than waiting waiting and waiting around for your plane to leave.

 When we got to checking in the luggage, the lady that worked there said that we had 50kilos of luggage to be checked in, so we happily checked in our luggage instead of taking it on the plane.  One win.

 On the plane, Ivana and I shared a chicken wrap and played UNO, while Jackie slept.  Jenny and Lee were on the other side of the plane.

 


On approach, I got a good photo of the Sydney Opera House and The Harbour Bridge.  What a great photo, even if I say so myself.  😏

 


We grabbed our bags, and we headed up to departures, where Jenny’s husband Tony was waiting for us to take us all home.  Tony was nice enough to drop off all home at our own individual houses.  We got home at about 6:30pm as we lost an hour coming over the border from Queensland to New South Wales.

 Chloe (my dog) was so happy to see me when I came in the door and I think Pete (my husband) might have been too.

  I put the alarm on this morning for 6:30am, so I wouldn’t be late for my holiday.  I had to drop off Chloe at the groomers before I went on my girl’s week away.   I threw my bag in the car and took Chloe down to the groomers and then back home so Pete could take me up to Lee’s place.   Lee had only booked in carry-on baggage for us, so we were panicking about the weight of our luggage. Of course, I thought I would be fine. Ivana had decided we should share one bag to be booked in, so I paid for some of this too. Daydream Island Holiday - Day 2 - Thursday 6th March, 2025

  It was our first full day on the island. We went down to breakfast about 8:30am. Breakfast was a free buffet. Everything was included, so we made the most of it.  Bacon, eggs, toast, hash brown. Once we finished our hot breakfast we went up for fruit. Watermelon, rockmelon, pineapple, grapes etc. We were a bit cheeky, so when we finished our breakfast, we went and got another clean plate or two and filled them up with bread, cold meat, cheese, fruit and pastry and took them up to our room and put them in the fridge for lunch. The staff saw us walking out with the food, but didn’t say anything. Phew.   I was chatting with Jackie as she didn’t know if she snored or not, so I reassured her that she doesn’t and she turned to me and replied, but you do. Daydream Island Holiday - Day 3 - Friday 7th March, 2025

  Jackie and I got up early today, as we had organised for 8:30am breakfast.   We knocked on the door next to ours and realised that Lee and Jenny had already gone down to the pool with Ivana. Jackie took a phone call, so that left me waiting, waiting, waiting.   Once again after eating breakfast we got a plate or two of cold cuts and fruits and took them up to the room and put them in the fridge, as we were going to have them for dinner this time instead of lunch.   We also booked the snorkelling tour of the daydream reef, but only three of us could go, as there were only three places left.   We decided that Ivana and I would go, and we would pay for Jackie to go for her 60 th birthday present.
